Morning overland journey to Pokhara of near 6 hrs drives either in tourist bus, charted coach or in cars as per the size of the group.
Journey leads on main Kathmandu and Pokhara highway past many farm villages and town with views of snow capped mountains till you reach at Pokhara, after having lunch on route.
At Pokhara transfer to your hotel by the lake side of Phewa with time for short walk with view of peaks and lake and preparation for the trek next morning. Dinner either in respective hotels or outside restaurants near the lake side (Flight options 30 minutes to reach Pokhara by air from Kathmandu).
Morning short and scenic flight to reach Jomsom from Pokhara, Jomsom a large town and headquarter of whole Mustang area, located on a shelf of Kali-Gandaki River.
From Jomsom where adventure starts towards wide Kali-Gandaki River valley to reach at Kagbeni village, an important place to enter into Upper Mustang and beyond as far towards Tibet border, on this ancient Trans Himalayan Salt Trade Route of Nepal and Tibet.
After Kagbeni around this exciting village, a short uphill walk to reach an open and wide areas within high canyon with towering eroded cliffs as walk leads to Tiri-Gaon village.
Walk around scenic landscapes with few short ups and down with winding path to Chele village for overnight stop, Chele also spelled as ‘Tshele’ a moderate size village here from onward into more Buddhism culture similar to Tibetan traditional life.
From Chele or Tsele, short climb to reach Gyakar village, and then on windswept terrain around dry and arid landscapes, as route heads to Samar village, an attractive looking villages of the area, as walk continues with steep climb to a high ridge on top Yamda La above3,860 m.
Enjoying great views of fantastic scenery descend to Syangboche village another interesting village, walk of day ends at Geling for overnight stop in this lovely traditional village.
After Charang, morning with time to its old monastery with interesting Buddhist prayer wheels propelled by fast flowing water, after the tour of the monastery walk continues to Ghami village.
Walk leads to cross over Ghaymi Khola (stream) and then heading past long series of Mani walls (holy prayer and stones), walk to Dhakmar village, to reach at Charang village for overnight stop.
From Charang heading to our final destinations towards former and ancient walled kingdom into Lo-Manthang, a large village within the fort known as Dzong guarding Lo-Manthang from outside invaders in early days.
A few hours of good walk takes you into Lo Manthang, a former kingdom where great Raja (king) of Mustang ruled the whole kingdom of Lo known as Mustang.
As walk progress crossing a strong steel bridge to Marang village, from here climb to a ridge top, past chhorten and Mani stones prayer walls in between Tsarang and Lo Manthang.
At Lo Manthang enjoy free day exploring its narrow neat street within villages of great interest with Tibetan design and carving.
Visit historical and cultural centre one of main attraction of Lo-Manthang, with four grand monasteries of Namgyal Gompa, Champa Lakhang (God House), Red Thubchen Gompa, Chyodi Gompa and its Great Entrance Hall.
Special permission required to enter former Raja or king of Mustang’s palace and visit its interior if possible.
After time at Lo-Manthang, walk to lower areas to reach back at Jomsom as route leads to few short climb to reach at Ghami for overnight stop, one of the important village of Upper Mustang region.
Morning walk leads on same trail with a climb up to Nyi La pass, and then contour upwards to reach the path coming from Tsarang village, from ridge top descend to Geling Valley. Walk continues past Geling to reach an isolated Tea House and then with slow downhill reaching at Tama Gung.
With steep switchbacks as our route to a climb coming across a large painted chhorten and then on straightforward route to our overnight stop at Samar village.
Enjoying time at Upper Mustang country and its interesting villages with super views, slowly our journey leads back to Kagbeni on downhill trail as walk leads on the same route past Chele village to reach at Mustang Khola, from here on gradual path between towering canyons and eroded high cliffs to reach at Kagbeni after a great time on Upper Mustang.
From Kagbeni rest of the trek is much easier on gradual and downhill walks reaching around Kaligandaki river valley, from the valley floor on windswept Kaligandaki river valley to reach at Jomsom.
Jomsom and Kaligandaki areas, famous for delicious apple its products like cider, brandy and juice an interesting town and hub of Thakali people with ample time to explore around.
Early breakfast transfer to Jomsom airport for short flight of 20 minutes to land at Pokhara, during air views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri’s and Annapurna range of mountains with rolling hills dotted with farm villages,
Reaching Pokhara airport transfer to your hotels by the lake Phewa, afternoon free for individual activities or just relax and enjoy the views of the Annapurna Himalaya.
Morning after breakfast drive takes you back at Kathmandu, taking about 5-6 hrs on same busy highway back to Kathmandu, during journey observe Nepalese country life within farm villages and town, reaching Kathmandu transfer to hotel with evening free at leisure
