Introduction

The trek to Mardi Himal Base Camp is a route which has not been open for long, therefore it naturally attracts a little fewer visitors than other treks in the Annapurna region. It has a little bit more wilderness and offers also amazing views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and Manaslu ranges. This trek will take you along Rhododendron and bamboo forests, this trek also involves a bit of ridge hiking above the routes of Annapurna Base Camp. The highest altitude of this trek is 4500m which is Mardi Himal Base Camp. There are possibilities to extend this trek in case you have more time.

This trek has included yoga and meditation classes as well. The word ‘Yoga’ is a Sanskrit word that derives from the Sanskrit root ‘Yug’; which means ‘to connect, join or balance’. In Yoga, we join and balance mind, body, and breath. As trekking is quite a challenge for our bodies and since we climb, also a challenge for our breath, yoga really compliments trekking. In yoga, we lengthen and stretch our breath and muscles, which is the exact opposite of what we do whilst being on a trek. To practice yoga and meditation whilst being on the trek is a great way of keeping our minds and bodies ‘fit’ during the trek.
