Morning an early start with scenic and interesting drive beyond north of Kathmandu valley, where journey leads on winding road past many farm villages and towns within warm areas of Trisuli and Nuwakot district.
As drive continues heading uphill within cooler country to reach at Dhunche, headquarter town of Rasuwa district within Langtang Himal, also the start of Langtang National Park, from here downhill to our overnight stop at Syabrubesi within Tamang tribe village.
From Syabrubesi morning drive leads on newly constructed road that links Nepal / Tibet border at Rasuwa Gadhi at 1,800m which is 15 km distance of an hour drive from Syabrubesi, on reaching Nepa-Tibet frontier received by our Tibetan guide and drivers, after completing immigration & custom formalities on the both sides of Nepal / Tibet at Rasuwa Gadhi, drive leads further to Kyirong county with first overnight stop in Tibet with accommodation at local guest-house or with camping facilities.
An important and necessary rest day for acclimatization, before heading higher areas of dry and high Tibetan terrain, as Kyirong a perfect spot for rest with an altitude of 3,950 m as next day adventure drive leads at above 4,500 meters and much higher over passes.
At Kyirong relax and enjoy views of Ganesh and Langtang Himal peaks towards south that borders Nepal and Tibet.
After stop at Kyirong morning continue drive on world highest and largest Tibetan plateau into inner Tibet wild windswept high and dry landscapes, as the drive joins on the road of Nylam / Zhangmu near Paigu-Tsho, a huge salt lake.
From here heading over a small pass to reach Brahmaputra River or Yalung Tsangpo after crossing the river on a bridge reach at Saga town, a growing moderate size town located on route Mt. Kailash and Shigatse / Lhasa.
From Saga few hours’ drive over a pass then descending to long stretch of Tibetan plains, with great views of distant peaks. Drive passes few villages and nomads / yak herders’ camps and then reaching a windswept village at Paryang.
Paryang located 4,550 m, a small town with almost 15-20 houses serving as Guest houses and Lodge, where facilities are very simple and basic.
After Paryang morning drive towards Tibet’s dry windswept landscape on world’s highest and largest plateau, driving with views of Mt. Gurla Mandhata at 7,728 meters high, and the over Maium-La Pass 5,050 m.
Drive then leads to western rim of holy Mt. Kailash near Chu Gompa (monastery) located on a ridge inside overhanging cave.
Overnight stop in local guesthouse / lodge (depending upon the season for Indian and Tibetan pilgrims)
Morning free at holy Lake Manasrover located in Western Tibet between Mt. Kailash 6,714 meters and Gurla Mandhata Mountain Range stands at 7,694 meters. Where Lake Manasrover floats beneath the shadow of holy Mt. Kailash as this lake forms the mind of God, as the name Manas.
Here interested pilgrims can perform puja rites with dips in this sacred lake within shallow area by the shore.
In Hindu, Buddhist and Jain religion, the holiest lake of Asia; best time to go around Lake Manasrover is in late autumn and early spring when the streams and rivers are low.
Possible walk near the shoreline, an optional drive around Manasrover Lake can be done on request which takes about four hours.
With time here after performing puja an interesting short hike to Chu Gompa located on a shelf of a over-hanging cliff cave, adorned with Buddhism arts and ancient idols of Lord Buddha and other high Gurus.
Afternoon a short drive takes you at the centre and main town of Kailash in Darchen with many shops-stores and lodges with Guest-House, an interesting market to visit around and observe Tibetan traditional life and culture, during auspicious time this place flooded with Tibetan and Indian pilgrims for Kora, parikrama or holy circuit walks.
After Darchen with time at sacred Lake Manasrover, morning starts with a short drive on Barkha valley beyond Darchen town to reach Tarboche, one of the holy spot of the region with excellent views of Mt. Kailash West Face from here our holy walk begins leading north on a wide terrain towards Shershong, then with gradual climb of nice walk reaching to our overnight stop at Dhiraphuk Gompa, with magnificent views of holy Mt. Kailash North Face.
From Dhiraphuk and highest spot for overnight stops, morning walk continues heading uphill trail onto moraine of more than two hours, then with steep climb to reach on top Dormo-la pass at above 5,630m /18,525ft.
A holy spot closest views of Mt. Kailash North Face and the highest point of this adventurous pilgrimage, a big boulder represent goddess Dolma or Dromo (Tara) festooned with thousands of prayer flags and offering by both Hindu’s and Buddhist pilgrims.
This holy spot a physical and spiritual high point on pilgrimage, parikrama or Kora, after a nice break here walk leads to a long descend towards Lamchu wide valley a flat area, on reaching at the bottom of Dormo -la pass, a pleasant walk reaches you at a small Zutul-Puk Gompa for overnight stop, either in lodge or in tented camp.
Zuthul means cave in Tibetan, this place named after a holy cave in which poet, and saint Milereppa meditate in early 11th century, his footprints can be seen on the cave roof top.
Last day of holy walk around Mt. Kailash, morning walk on nice gradual trail for few hours to reach a narrow valley and a gorge of Karnali River, from here walk heads west to near Darchen to end our holy walk, from here taking a drive past Mayum-la pass and the continue drive to reach at windswept town to Dzongba town for overnight stop.
Morning drive leads close to snow capped mountains that border Nepal and Tibet, a great scenic drive to reach Saga town, after a refreshing stop continue drive to Kyirong frontier town, journey leads past great Tibetan dry plateau taking a newly opened route of five hours overland drive to reach the border town of Tibet-China and Nepal at Kyirong for last overnight stop in Tibet.
Last time in Tibet offering farewell to Tibetan guide and drivers, morning depart from Tibet taking a short drive to border post of Nepal and Tibet / China at Rasuwa-Gadhi.
After completing visa and custom formalities then enter into Nepal border at Rasuwa Gadhi the cross Nepal where drive leads on rough dirt road for a while to reach Syabrubesi village, after a short refreshing break journey continues on winding uphill to reach at Dhunche town for overnight stop.
Morning after breakfast board in a bus or similar vehicle as per group size then drive from Dunche on winding downhill to reach warmer areas of Nuwakot and then descend on good road to reach back to your hotel in Kathmandu, after a mesmerizing time and adventure on Kailash and Manasrover Journey and Yatra.
