Helambu Trekking leads to moderate walks with some ups and downhill to encounter along with fabulous views of snow-capped peaks throughout the walk exploring nice rural hill villages enriched with ancient heritage and culture of Buddhism religion.

Starts with short drive from your hotel in Kathmandu to reach at North East of the valley rim around small farm town, where walk leads to high beautiful spot at Chisapani rewards you with stunning sunrise views over panorama of mountains.

From here walking into serene forested trail and past nice farm villages to reach a high spot at Tadepatti above 3,597 m facing grand views of peaks and rolling hills where walk leads to with down and up to reach at Tarke Gyang, a lovely village within the heart of Helambu.

Explore and enjoy the culture of Helambu people know as Hyalmo tribe intact with Buddhism religion and ancient heritage visit its interesting monasteries and then head downhill on scenic trail with drive back to Kathmandu, after a most memorable and exciting time on Helambu Trekking.

Best Seasons

March to May with Mid September to December months best months for treks when most of the days crystal clear for views, but cold in the morning and night time as well in shades with chances of snow sometimes during autumn and winter seasons.

Where March to May will be lively when wild flowers are in full bloom with sunny days with cloudy late afternoon sometimes.

October to December autumn and winter months clear fine day for views and walks, however will be much cold in the morning and night time as well in shade, not including wind chill factor, chances of snow on route walks above 3,000 m higher.

Itinerary

Day 1Arrival day in Kathmandu via various airlines and transfer to hotel

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by Life and Journey staff / guide greets you with warm welcome and then transfer into heart of Kathmandu city to your respective hotels.

With time to get refreshed join in for group briefing regarding treks with other useful information as well with do’s and don’ts, includes welcome group dinner in a nice authentic restaurants with cultural program.

Day 2In Kathmandu options for sightseeing tour and trek preparation

Free day in Kathmandu for leisure activities as well for options for sightseeing tour around the city places of Interest, as Kathmandu and its close other cities steeped with World Heritage Sites, afternoon preparation for Helambu trekking.

Day 3Drive to Sundarijal 1,395 m trek to Chisapani 2,205 m - 04hrs

Start with short drive to Kathmandu valley eastern rim at Sundarijal situated 15 k.m.

From Sundarijal climb through farm villages, cascade of waterfalls and reaching at Shivapuri National Park, from here walking into forest and scattered farm villages to reach at Chisapani.

Chisapani located on a high ridge of Kathmandu valley North hills, with cool and fresh air at 2,300 m high offering super views of snowcapped mountain ranges of Annapurna-Manaslu-Ganesh Himal, Lang tang Himal extending towards Jugal Himal including Kathmandu valley. At Chisapani enjoy the fabulous sunrise and sunset views as well.

Day 4Trek to Kutumsang 2,446 m - 06 hrs

After catching sunrise and views of mountains, start downhill walk to Pati Bhanjyang with Hindu Brahman and Chettries village, continue climb for an hour on winding path into forest and villages to reach Gul Bhanjyang.
From here climb with short descent to Chipplin village, walk through farm villages with views of rolling green hills and snowcapped peaks till Kutumsang, a mix farm village of Sherpa-Hyalmo and Tamang ethnic tribes of people offering super views of snowcapped mountains, afternoon free at leisure to explore this small lovely village and its scenic surrounding.

Day 5Trek to Tadepatti 3, 597 m - 04 hrs

From Kutumsang, morning leads to a climb to cross over Yurin Danda ridge through lovely forest of rhododendron, pines and oak trees as the walk reach to a small pass at 3,510 meter and then with short descent into cool forest area, reaching an open wide area.
After some rest a short climb as our route diverts from the main trail joining Langtang and Gosainkund area with Helambu.

Morning walk ends at Tadepatti for the day with lunch and overnight stop.
Tadepatti with few fine lodges on this highest point offering grand scenery of rolling hills and high snow peaks of Langtang and Jugal mountain range.

Day 6Trek to Tarke Gyang 2,590 m - 06 hrs

After a nice morning with views continue with descend into dense rhododendron, hemlocks, firs and pines tree lines forest for few hours, walk further past Sheppard’s huts and temporary settlements to reach Melamche Khola
(stream) crossing over leading to a climb at Malemchigaon.

From here walk on downhill to Melamche River and at small farm village, crossing the river on suspension bridge, then climb above the river for an hour reaching at Tarke Gyang village via Nakote village for overnight stop.

Day 7 At Tarke Gyang rest day to explore around

At Tarke Gyang with rest day and explore around marvelous surrounding and village, Tarke Gyang famous for Buddhist culture, wood carving and delicious green apples also.
Explore around lovely village and its old monastery of Ama Yangri situated on top of the village.

Day 8Trek to Sermathang 2,610 m - 04 hours

Morning after leaving this nice village walk downhill through cool forested path passing many Chorten (Buddhist prayer monuments), summer meadows to reach Gangyul a small village, then following the path with wonderful views of rolling hills to reach at Shermathang for overnight stop, another cute and lovely Hyalmo village here with time to visit another old interesting monastery.

Day 9Trek to Melamchipul Bazaar, drive to Kathmandu - 05 hrs drive

After a great time around Helambu walk for few hours walk downhill on route Melamche bazaar and then drive back to Kathmandu,.

Few hours of pleasant drive reaches at Kathmandu after a wonderful time in the high hills of Himalaya.

Day 10International Departure homeward bound or respective countries

Your last final day in Nepal the country of Himalayan wonders, as per your flight time depart from the hotel, where our guides and staff transfer you for International departure homeward bound or to respective countries.
