Chulu East Peak Climb certainly inspires you after reaching its high summit to plan for further higher mountains to climb around Nepal Himalaya, where adventure takes you around beautiful Manang valley and its impressive villages adorned with Buddhist religion and fascinating cultures.

Chulu East Peak Climb will be a wonderful experience for all interested trekkers and adventurer achieving a goal of a life-time within high mountain range of Nepal Himalaya.

Our fabulous journey begins taking a long and exciting drive towards Nepal Mid-West around low and warmer areas of rich paddy fields within Lamjung district, and then following raging glacial Marysangdi River to reach higher cooler areas of Manang.

Walk leads through nice and lovely hill villages along with views of high snow capped peaks of Manaslu-Lamjung Himal and Annapurna then entering into a scenic valley of Manang at Pisang village.

After being on main Annapurna Circuit trekking trails, from Pisang onwards our route diverts towards high above Manang valley to reach our main destination at the base of Chulu East Peak, where camping involves as the area located away and remote from the main trekking routes.

The climb determined after having rest days for acclimatization and practice exercise before the big day, the grade of Chulu East Peak Climb is PD + means ‘Per Difficule’ the word and grading comes from French and Swiss Alpine Climbing Systems.

The grade of PD and plus where climb encounters snow-ice and rocky section with some technical difficulty to negotiate before reaching to the summit of Chulu East Peak.

From the top enjoy mind-blowing panorama of mountains with whole group of Chulus includes range of mountains that surrounds you, after a great exciting adventure where walk leads on the main trekking trails of Annapurna Circuit.

Walk continues heading higher north-west after enjoyable time around Manang village to reach high Thorang-la pass facing incredible views then descend to reach at Mustang district in Muktinath, a place with holy Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu a famous mountain pilgrimage spot.

From Muktinath our marvelous walks ends to reach at large town in Jomsom, headquarter of Mustang area and the home of indigenous Thakali people the tribe of Kaligandaki River Valley.

Enjoying times at Jomsom in the comfort of nice lodge where early morning short and scenic flight takes you to beautiful Pokhara, a city located on the laps of high Annapurna Himalaya range  that reflects on its calm Phewa and Begnas Lakes.

Our adventure ‘Chulu East Peak Climb’ concludes at magnificent Pokhara, after a great experience and wonderful time around high sides of Annapurna Himalaya.

Best Seasons

March to May with Mid September to November best months for treks when most of the days crystal clear for views, but cold in the morning and night time as well in shades with chances of snow sometimes during spring and autumn seasons also.

March to May lively when wild flowers are in full bloom with sunny days with cloudy late afternoon times, climb to Chulu East Peak will be favorable time around mid spring and at early autumn season from mid September to November months.


Day 1Arrival day in Kathmandu via various airlines and transfer to hotel

On arrival at Kathmandu international airport received by Life and Journey staff / guide greets you with warm welcome and then transfer into heart of Kathmandu city to your respective hotels.

With time to get refreshed join in for group briefing regarding treks with other useful information as well with do’s and don’ts, includes welcome group dinner in nice authentic restaurants with cultural program.

Day 2In Kathmandu options for sightseeing tour and trek preparation

Free day in Kathmandu for leisure activities as well for options for sightseeing
tour around the city places of Interest, as Kathmandu and its close other cities
steeped with World Heritage Sites, rest of the afternoon preparation for Chulu
East Peak Climb and trek around Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 3Drive to Syange 1,240 m via Besisar 830 m of 6 hrs overland.

Morning an interesting long drive leads to Nepal Mid West, journey heads past Besisar town, and then on the dirt road to Khudi, Bhulbhule and Ngadi following the Marysangdi River upstream, drive continues through rice terraces fields and villages to Syange for overnight stop.

Day 4Trek to Dharapani 1,920 m - 05 hours.

From Syange slow climb on leaving Marysangdi River behind to reach a farm village of Jagat, from here morning walk leads on gentle winding path to Chamje, and back to the same river, crossing towards forested area, with superb views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges, as walk leads on wide path to a nice village at Tal Besi.
Probably with refreshing lunch break, and then continue walk for 2-3 hours to Dharapani village for overnight stop, Dharapani a nice village situated on the junction of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

Day 5Trek to Chame 2,670 m - 05 hours.

After Dharapani walk on winding trail within rhododendron and pine forest past Bagarchap and Danque to reach at Timang village, from here onwards into more Buddhist cultural village with views of Mt. Manaslu.

From Timang village few hours trek leads to Koto and then at Chame town for overnight stop, Chame a large and major town of Manang area and as well a head quarter of Manang district.

Day 6Trek to Pisang 3, 230 m - 05 hrs.

From here onward air gets much cooler as walk leads closer to mountains, morning walk into dense alpine forest of rhododendron and pine trees, following Masrsyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhratang village.

From Bhratang village walk follows uphill through woodland to reach at Dhukure Pokhari a small place with few teahouses and lodge overlooking Chulus and Pisang peak, with a possible lunch stop then walk descends to lower Pisang village for overnight stop.

Day 7 At Pisang rest day for acclimatization.

Free and rest day at Pisang village where you can enjoy beautiful surrounding views of Pisang peak with Chulus includes Annapurna II and IV, a great place for acclimatization with short hike to Upper Pisang village and visit its interesting monastery.

Day 8Trek to Julu 3,900m past Ngawal village 3,657m - 06 hrs.

With pleasant stop and overnight in Pisang village, from this Pisang onward for few days away from main Annapurna circuit route heading towards absolute wilderness, as walk heads into complete barren wilderness.

Looking around excellent views of Annapurna and Chulu peaks, as walk continues higher above Nagawal village, leading towards North West into more arid and dry terrain to reach at Jhulu small village for first camping of the adventure.

Day 9Trek to Chulu Base Camp at 5,300m- 04 hrs.

After pleasant rest at Julu, morning walk leads higher up towards remote within complete wilderness with views of Chulu’s and northern Annapurna range of mountains.

Climb leads above scenic Manang valley towards Chulu East close to Chulu Far East Peaks, after a tough climb reaching a rocky moraine area on top of a ridge to set our base camp for the climb.

This will be a perfect and ideal spot for base camp beneath towering Chulu East Peak with amazing views of surrounding mountains and dramatic landscapes.

Day 10Climb to Chulu East Peak high / advance camp 4,955m - 03 hrs.

A short day but tough due to high altitude, as our morning walk follows a faint and vague path where few climbers and Yak herders hardly use this route to set a high camp.
Walk leads over rocks, ice and glacier to reach at the very bottom of Chulu East Peak where high camp is set for the climb, this will make more approachable towards its summit top for next morning climb.
Afternoon our guide will scout the area for safe approachable and accessible route to its summit by fixing ropes and making ice ledges where necessary.
High Camp situated on a rocky and ice spot right beneath Chulu East Peak, under some conditions this area may be under snow, afternoon free to sort the gear and full preparation for exciting climb.

Day 11Climb of Chulu East Peak and descend to Base Camp.

Our main highlight of the adventure starting early before dawn to reach over a snowy slopes to a rocky and icy ridge, where a steep climb leads you with some technical sections on few areas of the climb to reach at the summit of Chulu East Peak; our expert guide will support you with necessary skill and technique required to reach at the summit top.

After a final ascent reaching on top of Chulu East Peak above 6,584m | 21,601ft high, facing incredible views and panorama of surrounding peaks of Annapurna-Damodar Himal with all of Chulu range of peaks.

Marvel the extraordinary scenery and descend back to base camp safely and feeling in high spirit and quite tired.

Day 12Reserve day in case of bad weather condition.

We reserve an extra day as contingency in case of unfavorable weather condition, or to adjust this day to maintain itinerary days taking care of client’s health and fitness as well.
If all goes well according to our standard itinerary our guide / leader will use this extra day on return trek to Manang or on route to Jomsom, making shorter days with enjoyable walks on route.

Day 13Trek to Ngawal village 3,657 m via Julu - 06 hrs.

After a great successful climb, morning walk head back to Jhulu village and towards Manang main village, on route stopping for overnight at nice and isolated Ngawal village facing grand views of Chulus and Annapuran.

Day 14Trek to Manang 3,540 m - 05 hrs.

Morning views of mountains, from here walk leads downhill facing Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu and Pisang peak.

Walk towards flat valley at Hongde village, from here on pleasant path to reach back at popular Annapurna Circuit route and then at main Manang village for overnight stop in the comfort of nice and cozy lodges.

Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk reaches at Manang village.

Day 15Trek to Yak Kharka 4,110 m - 04 hours.

After a good rest at Manang, morning walk towards Ghunsang village on uphill path to Yak Kharka, interesting high altitude trekking with super view of snowcapped mountains, then crossing a small stream river to reach Yak Kharka, a small settlement with tremendous views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

Day 16Trek to Thorang High Camp 4,600 m - 04 hrs.

As the walk advances to high area, heading closer to the base of Thorang-la as the walk leads to cross a bridge and then a climb along the river bank of Jarjung, as the walk leads at Thorang Phedi, here depending upon the physical conditions of the clients, if all goes well an hour steep climb to Thorang High Camp for overnight stop.

Day 17Cross Thorang-La 5,416 m and to Muktinath 3,800 m - 07 hrs.

Big Day! the highlight of this great adventure, after an early breakfast walk leads to a long climb up to Thorang-la with a steep terrain and winding path to Thorung La Pass at 5,416 m / 17,700 ft.

The highest altitude gain of this adventure it certainly requires a high spirit, strong physically with strong mind to cross over it.

The top offers superb vista of amazing landscapes with snowcapped peaks, from here a long descend to Muktinath at 3,800 m.

On reaching Muktinath for overnight stop, a holy place for both Hindus and Buddhists the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’.

Day 18Drive to Jomsom 2, 715 m - 02 hrs.

Since road been constructed last few years with options from Muktinath to shorten our journey, taking a scenic jeep ride heading down to Kaligandaki River valley past large town at Jomsom.

Jomsom headquarter town of Mustang region with small airstrip above Kaligandaki River as well the hub of indigenous Thakali people who have been on trade with Tibet around this Old Trans Himalayan Salt Trade and Caravan Route of Nepal to Tibet border.

Day 19Fly to Pokhara 860 m (22 mins flight) transfer to hotel by the lakeside

Morning depart from the lodge to Jomsom airport where early short flight takes you to scenic Pokhara for overnight stop by its serene Lake Phewa, where out marvelous adventure Chulu East Peak Climb completes on this beautiful city in Pokhara.

Day 20Drive / Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

Morning after breakfast drive takes you back at Kathmandu, taking about 5-6 hrs on same busy highway back to Kathmandu, during journey observe Nepalese country life within farm villages and town, reaching Kathmandu transfer to hotel with evening free at leisure

Day 21International Departure homeward bound or respective countries.

Your last final day in Nepal the country of Himalayan wonders, as per your flight time depart from the hotel, where our guides and staff transfer you for International departure homeward bound or to respective countries.
