Booking Terms and Conditions

Weight limit of the Porter
Cancellation Policy
  • $100 of the total cost to be paid when making a booking.
  • The remaining amount has to be paid in Kathmandu prior to the trip or can be transferred over the bank.
  • All major currencies (USD, Euro, GBP, SGD, CAD, AUD)are acceptable as per the exchange rate on the day of the payment. For clients paying by credit or debit card a 4% surcharge on the total amount will apply

Porters are there to make your trip more easy and enjoyable, but they are also human. They are not able to carry more than 20kg, which includes their own backpack of maximum 4kg. Kindly take this into consideration whilst packing.


We understand that sometimes due to unavoidable circumstances clients have to cancel their trip, therefore we have the following policy in place:

  • Cancellations made more than a month in advance will be 100% refunded (minus transaction fees)
  • Cancellations made less than a month prior to the trip will be 50% refunded (minus transaction fees)
  • n case that clients have to cancel (illness or emergency at home), 80% of the balance after deduction of any costs which have already been incurred (i.e. flight ticket cancellation fees, hotel booking cancellation fees, transport cancellation fees, conservation area entry fee,TIMS, part payment to porters and guide etc)

In case of refunds, we will process this immediately, but it might take 7 to 15 working days for the process to go through the bank.

Travel Insurance

Sometimes, for a variety of reasons, clients return early from their trip. If this does happen, there is no refund. In these cases, payments are non-refundable because guides and porters have to be paid for the number of original days booked.


Sometimes domestic flights get cancelled due to bad weather in the mountains. Should flights be delayed or cancelled, the client is liable to bear the cost of any additional nights in a hotel.


Clients must have the own personal insurance in case of an emergency, Details of clients insurance policies/companies will be collected by our booking form.

Life and Journey provides insurance for (and only for) our own guides and porters.
